A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to accept a $2,500.00
co- sponsorship payment from the City of West Miami Police
Department, $2,500.00 co- sponsorship payment from the
Village of Pinecrest Police Department, $2,500.00 co-
sponsorship payment from the Town of Palmetto Bay Police
Department and $2,500.00 co- sponsorship payment from the
Village of Key Biscayne Police Department to assist with the
costs of the September 2013 Miami -Dade Chiefs of Police
Association monthly reception and dinner meeting
WHEREAS, each month the Miami -Dade Chiefs of Police Association holds a
dinner meeting to network with the other Chiefs, second and third -in- commands and
primarily, to honor the Miami -Dade Chiefs Association's selection of the Officer of the
Month, and
WHEREAS, each month these meetings take place at different locations
through out the county and are hosted by one or more police departments, who share
expenses and seek sponsorships to help with the costs of the reception and dinner, and
WHEREAS, this September 2013, the monthly meeting is being hosted by
South Miami, West Miami, Pinecrest, Key Biscayne and Palmetto Bay Police
Departments, with South Miami PD being the lead agency responsible for all of the
planning and arrangements, and
WHEREAS, the above mentioned co -hosts have each budgeted $2,500.00 to
assist with the costs of the this monthly dinner meeting, September 2013, for a grand
total of $10,000.00
WHEREAS, the donations will increase the expenditure line item ##001 -1910-
521 -5410, Memberships and Subscriptions, with a current balance of $3,891.33 to
$13,891.33.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT:

Section 1: The City Manager is authorized to accept the co- sponsorship
payment from the City of West Miami Police Department, The Town of Palmetto Bay
Police Department, The Village of Pinecrest Police Department and the Town of Key
Biscayne Police department to assist with the costs related to hosting the Miami -Dade
Chiefs of Police Association monthly dinner meeting, and apply the funds to account
#001 -1910- 521 -5410, Memberships & Subscriptions.
Section 2: If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for
any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the
holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.
Section 3: This resolution shall become effective upon adoption by a vote of
the City Commission.

Background: Each month the Miami -Dade Chiefs of Police Association holds a
reception and dinner meeting to network with the other Chiefs, second

September 2013, the monthly meeting is being hosted by South Miami,
West Miami, Pinecrest, Key Biscayne and Palmetto Bay Police
Departments, with South Miami PD being the lead agency responsible for
all of the planning and arrangements. The four (4) co- sponsors
mentioned, the City of West Miami Police Department, The Town of
Palmetto Bay Police Department, The Village of Pinecrest Police
Department and the Town of Key Biscayne Police Department will
provide a total of $10,000.00 to assist with the costs of the this monthly
dinner meeting, September 2013.
Expense: $ 10,000.00 (co- sponsorship payment which will be used toward the costs
of the monthly dinner meeting and will be applied to increase line item
001 -1910- 521 -5410, Memberships & Subscriptions, with a current balance
of $3,891.33).
