A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF

HISTORY
All too often I have become aware that numerous large companies continue to do business with foreign
countries or other groups that support terrorism. It appears that these big corporations do not have a
conscience.
Yet, the same corporations bid on public projects and otherwise seek to become vendors supplying their
products or services to various cities.
The City of South Miami is a municipal corporation, but we do have a conscience. Under the above
resolution, it would be deemed unconscionable for the City of South Miami to use public funds to pay for
services or products from companies that have business operations in or with foreign countries or other
groups that sponsor terrorism and commit egregious human rights violations.
To ensure that we don't boycott a company that is not involved with terrorism, by mistake, f have
required that the companies we boycott are those companies that are determined to be terrorists by the
United States government.
Thus City funds can never be used to pay companies that support.terrorism in any part of the world.
