Res No 192-10-13226RESOLUTION NO. 192 -1.0 -13226 A resolution of the Mayor and City Commission of the City of South Miami, Florida, relating to hoards and committees; creating an Insurance Advisory Committee in order to analyze the cost effectiveness and efficiency of all City insurance policies; providing an effective date. WHEREAS, the City of South Miami has numerous insurance policies as do other municipal corporations; and WHEREAS, a review of our current insurance policies reveals that in many cases the City is over charged for insurance premiums; and WHEREAS, because of the current economic situation, the City requires more efficient streamlined cost- effective insurance policies to serve the best interests of the taxpayers and citizens of the City of South Miami; and WHEREAS, glaring examples under insurance coverage often come to light, such as the example of the South Miami Community Redevelopment Agency (SMCRA) having a $500,000 liability policy, whereas in said policy there is no mention of the City of South Miami as a loss payee.
