Res No 158-10-13192RESOLUTION NO. 158-10-13192 A resolution of the Mayor and City Commission of the City of South Miami, Florida, relating to boards and committees; re- appointing Bradley Cassel to serve on the Pension Ad Hoc Committee for a term ending October 19, 2010; and providing an effective date. WHEREAS, The Mayor and Commission recognize the important contributions made by those who serve on the various city boards and committees, and wish to appoint a full complement to each of the active boards and committees; and WHEREAS, the City Commission created a Pension Ad Hoc Committee by Resolution No. 180 -09- 12989, dated October 20, 2009, consisting of five members; for a period of six months, in order to provide recommendations to the Commission with alternatives to the City's pension system; and WHEREAS, The City Commission extended the Committee for an additional six months by Resolution No. 90 -10 -13124 dated May 4, 2010; and WHEREAS, The City Commission desires to re- appoint Bradley Cassel to serve on the Pension Ad Hoc Committee for a term ending October 19, 2010. Appointment shall expire October 19, 2010 or until a successor is duly appointed and qualified. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, THAT: Section 1. The City Commission hereby re- appoints Bradley Cassel to the Pension Ad Hoc Committee. Section 2. The expiration date of this appointment shall be October 19, 2010 or until a successor is duly appointed and qualified. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon approval. WHEREAS, pursuant to Article 11 section 8 of the charter, the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Commission is empowered to establish such boards and agencies as it deems advisable; anal, WIIEIZEAS, the City Commission created a Pension Ad Hoc Committee by Resolution No. 180 -09- 12989, dated October 20, 2009, consisting of five members, for a period of six months, in order to provide recommendations to the Commission with alternatives to the City's pension system; and wIIEREA.S, the six -month term is about to elapse and the Committee needs more time to complete its report; and WHERE there is a need for extending the membership of the Committee for another six months; and WEWREAS, the following members were originally appointed to serve on the Committee. Meetings of the pension Ad Hoc Committee shall be subject to the Florida Sunshine laws, including the public meeting law and the public records law.
