Dear [Recipient Name]:
My name is _, and I am the [title] for the action name]. I am contacting you in regards
to the pressing issue of access to historical electtacty usage data for Florida municipalities.

facilities as well as their broader jurisdictions from F'l%ver and Light (FPL). 1 believe
that solutions can be developed which benefit both FPL city and county governments. This
letter has support from several municipal members of ICL . •1 peal Governments for

analyze performance, develop conservation plans, and ultimately reduce greenhouse gas
emissions. It is critical that cities and counties are provided with a streamlined, simple method to
access and collect this data from their energy providers.
Several communities in Florida have struggled to compile historical government energy usage
data with limited staff and resources. Communities hire part -time interns or work with local
colleges and universities to find the data in paper bills or search account by account online. This
represents an expenditure that can bar communities from undertaking energy reduction planning.
The solution to this issue is simple. Municipalities need streamlined access to reports that
include the following government -level information:
Account No.
Account Address
Rate
Meter No.

For community -level analysis, we need access to aggregate level data that reports annual
electricity usage in the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors within a particular
jurisdictional boundary. Additionally, we need to have a clear erstanding of how accounts
are classified into each of these categories.
Access to this information would greatly improve the abf
cities and counties, to undertake energy planning, and easui
reduction efforts. This has the potential to improve not only the
our communities, but the economic sustainability as well. Tax -]
