AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, ADOPTING A BUDGET OF
$1°T658,979 $19,2255676 AND PAY PLAN FOR THE FISCAL YEAR
2009/2010; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT; AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE,
WHEREAS, the City Manager has submitted a proposed budget together with a budget
message and supporting schedule including a pay plan; and
WHEREAS, recognizing the future liability of prior year commitments, amounts
encumbered during Fiscal Year 2008 -2009, but paid in Fiscal Year 2009 -2010 shall be
transferred in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP) and reflected
in the 2009 -2010 budget.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 200, Florida Statutes, the Mayor and City
Commission are required to adopt a tentative, and thereafter, a final budget for the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 11 The Budget for the fiscal year, as submitted by the City Manager,
including the pay plan, as filed in the City Clerk's Office, in an amount of $19,658,979
$19,225,676 be and the same is hereby approved. Independently identified as General Fund in
the amount of $18,Gr 39,792 $18,105,789, Hurricane Fund in the amount of $72,446 Storm Water
Drain Fund in an amount of $441,986, Local Option Gas Trust Fund in an amount of $98,489,
Peoples Transportation Tax Fund in an amount of $444,022 Self Insurance Fund in an amount of
$21,500, State Forfeiture Fund in an amount of $6,000 and Federal Forfeiture Fund in the
amount of $35,444.
Section 2. Any amount encumbered during Fiscal Year 2008 -2009, but paid in Fiscal
Year 2009 -2010 shall be transferred in accordance with GAAP and reflected in the 2009 -2010
budget.
Section 3. If any section, clause, sentence, or phrase of this ordinance is for any
reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not
affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance.
Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance are repealed.
Section 51 This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approved.

Option Gas Trust Fund in an amount of $98,489, Peoples Transportation Tax

Three people died and
three others were injured
after a, driver lost control
of his SUV in .Margate
early Saturday morning;
police said.
Killed in the crash were
a brother and sister: Crys-
tiari Acosta, 22; and Eliza-
beth Acosta, 18, both of
Port St. Lucie, police said.
Adilene Medina, 19, of
North Lauderdale, also
died. Crystian Acosta was
the driver of the black
