From: Fritz Armand, Public Works & Engineering Director
Date: December 8, 2010 Agenda Item No.:
A Resolution of the Mayor and City Commission of the City of South Miami,

In the past the City collected trash and debris generated from City residents and
hauled it away to an owned and operated Miami Dade County (MDC) waste
disposal site. In an effort to pursue the City's green work plan initiative to recycle
waste and reduce the City's waste disposal fee. The Public Works Department

On November 3, 2009, Sun Recycling, LLC was approved by city commission in
the list of vendors over $5,000.00 for expenditures up to $200,000.00. On May 26,
2010 Open PO No. 11496 was issued to Sun Recycling, LLC for the disposal and

on the City of Oakland Park contract resolution No. R2008 -029, at this time Public
Background: Works Department implemented the City's yard waste recycling initiative.
Since implementation the City has recycled approximately 2124 tons of yard
waste which has resulted • in savings of approximately $ 32,497.20 due to the
reduce cost of the disposal fees, additional savings in fuel consumption and

of South Miami boundaries.
During the budget process $146,000.00 were approved in the 2010 -2011 Fiscal
Year's budget for the disposal and recycling of the City's yard waste.
