Res No 120-12-13677RESOLUTION NO. 120 -12 -13677 A Resolution directing the City Manager to cease the current practice of putting notices on trash bins in order to notify City residents of when garbage will be picked up during the week of a national holiday. WHEREAS, there are 22 miles of road in the City which have to be driven in both directions for the South Miami Department of Solid Waste to cover the entire City to put notices on trash bins; and WHEREAS, those notices have been delivered that way for years telling residents when garbage will be picked up during the week of a national holiday; and WHEREAS, not every resident has their garbage bin out for pickup on their pickup days, resulting in an incomplete dissemination of information; and WHEREAS, by now South Miami residents are aware of when garbage will be picked up during the week of a national holiday; and WHEREAS, if someone misses a garbage pickup, they can expect another one within a maximum of four (4) days. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager shall cease the current practice of putting notices on trash bins in order to notify City residents of when garbage will be picked up during the week of a national holiday. Section 2. If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution. Section 3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption by vote of the City Commission, PASSED AND ADOPTED this 5 th day of June 2012.
