1967-574w . , Imo_ ORDINANCE NO. 574 ORDINANCE OF CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, AMENDING ^SECTION 16A -6 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES.OF CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, THEREBY PROVIDING FOR CHAIRMAN OF ADVISORY PERSONNEL BOARD TO BE APPOINTED BY CITY COUNCIL. r BE IT ORDAINED BY THE 14AYOR'AND CITY COUNCIL OF CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA: 1. Section 16A -6 of the Code of 'Ordinances of City of South Miami, Florida, is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 16A -6. PERSONNEL "BOARD- Composition;"quali- fications; terms; vacancies; service without compensation; expense account; chairman. The Advisory Personnel Board shall consist of five members appointed by "the Mayor with 'the approval of 'the Council. Effective October 1, 1967, appointment shall be made as follows: Two members 'to serve until October 1,`1968. Two members Ij to serve until October 1, 19' One member to serve until`October'1, 1970. A chairman shall be appointed annually from the membership by the Council on October first. _ �:• as . On expiration of the original leirms' successors shall be appointed to serve for a'term 'of three (3) years. If for any reason, appointments shall not be made by the required dates, the incumbent .will continue ' hue to serve iintil the successor has been appointed. In the - event of the 'death or resignation of a member or his failure to attend two consecutive meetings, 'a successor shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council to fill the unexpired "term. The members of the .. Board shall be persons in sympathy' With ' the application of merit principles to public employine`nt. No member of the 'Board shall be employed by or be an'off4icial of `the City nor shall be a member of any local, state or national committee or a political club or organization "nor shall hold or be a candidate for any elective 'office. The members of the Board shall serve without compensation but funds will be provided for - reasonable and necessary expenses. The rd shall adopt rules for the 'governing of conduct of its affairs not inconsi'stent'with `any provisions of the City Code and Charter. The Board shall keep minutes of "its proceed- ings showing the vote of each member on'each quest "on or if absent, or failing'to vote, indicating such'facts and shall keep records of `its actions, all of which shall be immediately filed in the office of the City Clerk and shall be of public record. i .w' :1 This ordinance shall become effective upon its adoption in the manner provided by law.
