ORDINANCE OF CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA,
RESCINDING ORDINANCE NO. 543 ADOPTED
SEPTEMBER 6, 1966, SAID ORDINANCE NO. 543
BEING MORE FULLY DESCRIBED HEREIN; LEVYING
TAX OF 4.59 MILLS ON ALL TANGIBLE PROPERTY

SAME; PROVIDING FOR EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the 6th day f Se tember, 1966, the City
Council-passed and adoptedOrdinance 'No. 543 - levying the tax
of 7.6 mills on the taxable property in the City, and
WHEREAS, since said date, certain court decisions have
been rendered holding that the provisions of Florida Statute
193.03 are applicable to municipalities occupying the same
status as the City of South Miami, and
WHEREAS, the "maximum millage permitted to be levied by
the City of "South Miami, Florida, pursuant to the''-provisions
of Florida Statute 191f'03,_ is 4.59 mills, which figure includes
a 10% increase and a 5% increase over a basic millage of 3.99
mills, and
WHEREAS, the City Council-deems it advisci a to 'comply
with the provisions of Florida Statute 193.03 requiring a

reduction in m' illage levied by a municipality proportionate to
the "increase of the tax assessment 'rolls;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE'IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND 'CITY
- COUNCIL OF CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section `l. Ordinance No. 543 heretofore adopted by
the City Council on September 6, 1966, is hereby -,
rescinded, revoked and made of no force and effect.
The caption of said Ordinance No. 543 reads as follows:

Section 2. A tax of 4.59 mills is hereby levied
for the year 1966 on all tangible property in the
City of South Miami, Florida, for the corpo'ra`te
purpose and objects of said City including Emplo'yee's
Pension Plan, except such property as is exempt by law.
ORDINANCE NO. 548 (continued)
Section 3. Said tax above levied shall be collected
in the manner provided by law.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage as required by law.
