1965-518I ORDIWXgCE NO. 518 ORDINRNCE OF CITY OF SOUTH MIP14I, FLORIDA, CHANGING NAME OF PERSONNEL BOARD TO ADVISORY PERSONNEL " ARD, INCREASING MEMBERSHIP TO FIVE MEKBE�a �; PROVIDING FOR INITIAL MEMBER- SHIP; AMENDING SECTION 1GA -6 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO CONFORM THEREWITH WHEREAS, the Personnel Board of the City has recommended and requested that the membership of said Board be increased to five (5)- members, a nca WHEREAS, the City Council after due deliberation is in accordance with said recommendation and finds that it would be' to the best interest of the City and its employees to follow the said recommendation; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT'OADAINED'BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF CITY OF SOUTHgMIAMI, FLORIDA: 1. That the name or designation of the Personnel' of the City is hereby changed to Advisory Personnel Board and the membersg of said Board is hereby p y increased to five (5) members to be appointed in accordance with the City Code, provided, however, that this amendment shall not cause the term of present members to be chanjeu. Additional members shall be appointed in the manner provided by law so as to bring the membership up to its full strength. The new member being appointed to serve until August 6, 1967. 2. Section 16A-6 of the Code,pf Ordinances of City of South Miami, Florida, is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 16A -6. Personnel Board - Established, composition, qualifications; terms; vacancies; service without compensation; expense account; chairman. An Advisory Personnel Board is hereby established, consisting of five members appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council. The members of the Board shall be persons in sympathy wi'th'the application of merit principles to public employment. r, f ORDINANCE -NO. 518 (continued) No member of the Board sha11. be employed by, or be an official of the City, nor shall be a member of any'local State, or National committee or a political club or organization, nor shall hold or be a candidate for any elective office. The members of the Board shall serve for a tethubf three -years and - shall be appointed -oti a staggerd basis. Vacancies occurring during the term shall be filled for the balance of the term. Members of the Board shall- serve without compensation but funds "will be provid- `` ed for reasonable "and necessary expenses. The Board shall elect its own chairman.
