Off- Street Parking requirements of the City, and
WHEREAS, after the holding of said public hearing, the
Planning and Zoning 'Board recommends that the Off- Street
Parking requirements be amended as hereinafter set forth, and
WHEREAS, after the holding of a public hearing, the City
Council deems it advisable and to the best interest of the
general welfare of the City and its inhabitants to fol:iow
the recommendation of said Board:

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF CITY
OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:
1. That Section 20-2 (27) of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of South Miami, Florida, is hereby amended to read
as follows:
(271) PARld SPACE. An area reserved only for the
parking of private Motor vehicles, providing or
furnislii7fi-gs-a space for each private auomobile
of not less than 10 feet Wide by 20 feet long,
exclu"sive of spaces needed for, passadeways and
driveways. In zoned areasWhd'r76 commercial
vehicles may be pa"riked, each Space so Used :A'ali
be not less than 11 'feet Wide by'.22 feet lorig.
2. That Section 20-14 (_2) is hereby amended to read as
follows:
(2) Off street parking space shall be provided on the
following basis:

At least one parking space for every three hundred
square feet of sleeping room area for patients
contained in such building.
(f) COMMERCIAL. One parking space for every 360 square
feet of floor area for the following commercial uses:
food or grocery stores, drug and sundry stores,
department stores, retail stores similar to the
foregoing, banks, post offices, mortuaries,
funeral homes, w6itincj rooms and stations for common

carriers, service shops, agencies, and shopping
centers. For all oti 4r commercial uses except as
otherwise provided in any one of the sub- sections
of this section there shall be provided three park-
ing spaces for the first 2500 square feet of floor
area and one parking space for each and every
additional 500 square feet of floor area.
(g) RESTAURANTS. Or similar places dispensing food
drink, or refreshments. One parking space for
each four seats devoted to patron use within the
establishment. In addition`, one parking space
must be provided for every two persons employed
or intended to be employed in such business.
(h) DRIVE IN RESTAURANTS. And similar places dispensing
food, drink or .re`freshments to vehicular - patrons
outside of building. The parking layout shall be
subject to the approval of 'tide Plaitining and Zoning"
Board and the City Council.

area'thereafter; or one ''parking space for each two
employees whichever requires the'jreater number of
parking spaces. If retail sales are conducted in
connection with such k austr`ial use, additional
off street 'parkiig'shall "be provided as required
for commercial uses. The portion of the structure
aliocated for retail sales shall be used as the
basis for determining the additional' parking required.
3. That the Code of Ordinances of City of South Miami,
Florida, is hereby amended by addiny'-thereto a Section to be
numbered 20 -14 (6), said Section 20- 14 -(6) to read as follows:
Section 20 -14 (6).
(a) All offstreet parking areas, except those for

paved or hard surfaced and drained; and shall
include interior driveways and 'ingress and egress
driveways connecting with a public street or alley,

backing vehicles into a public street shall not be
permitted.

(b) Prior to- the isswan-e of airy building, paving
grading, levelling or other permit,, a suitable
sketch must be presented to the Bdilding and
Zoning Department indicatincj the prkin•,, layout,
proposed drainage on'the premises, and all drive-
ways extending beyond the property line into the-

with the approval of the Public Works Department
and the Plumbing Inspector. The driveway ' p lab
must meet with the approval of the Building Depart-
ment-aftd-the Departmdrfit'of Public Wo,ihs on all roads,
and in addkti6n 'thereto shall meet with the approval
of the State Road Department ofi all driveways
extending into State Roads.
4. That section 20-20."1 -(e) '(1) of the Code of Ord'T'nances

read as follows:

5. Each of the provisions of this ordinance are severable
and if any word, sentence, clause or provision shall be declared

shall not be affected, but shall remain in full force and effect.
6. This ordinance shall become effective ffective upon its adoption.
